December Snow

It snowed here in Michigan on Dec 1.  This also happened to be the day the roofer finished our roof.  So we did not actually get to see it finished!  It seems we have had much snow since, especially here in Holland with the "lake effect snow machine".  But this is to be expected.

Tim, Finn and I traveled down to Georgia to spend the holidays with my parents and four of my brothers and sisters and their families.  It was the first time many of them got to meet Brian, my sister's fiance. It was very good to see everyone again.

The drive down took 17 hours, which we drove straight through.  Since Finn decided to potty train the week before we left, there were many restroom stops!  Indiana is usually the most excruciating state to drive through, but this time it was absolute beauty.  There was white frost everywhere making it look like a winter wonderland.  We drove through a bit of light fog, which added to the romanticism.  And if that were not enough, just as the sun shone through and began burning the fog away, a circular rainbow appeared!  I have never witnessed a winter rainbow.  It was breathtaking.

While our reason for going to Georgia is always to see family, I must admit it is nice when the weather is warm.  Tim did get to golf once with Dick, but then it began to get cold.  On Christmas, as everyone was gathered at mom's, huge white snowflakes began to fall followed by squeaks and squeals of delight from our southern family. The Michiganians just sat back amused at the child-wonder of the snow.  It was the first time it had snowed on Christmas in Georgia since the 1800s, and I have a photo to prove it.

Finn got to ride gentle Clint.  Clint even came over to greet us when we had dinner at Dorrie's.  He is such a sweet horse.

The day was almost too exciting.  So many gifts, and so many people to play the role of audience for her!
